The words "civilized" and "savages" have always seemed to follow me my entire life. My aunt always told me a parents job is to "civilize the savages". My jiu jitsu teacher tells me about the times when he was a savage but he's civilized now. Growing up in Hawai'i the term Savage was used to describe the native people by missionaries, yet who truly was Civilized and who was the Savage?
I started posting my workouts on social media as a way to hold myself accountable. I didn't think anyone was paying attention but then something started to happen. People started reaching out to me tell me they didn't want to run, they didn't want to workout, they didn't want to get out of bed, but then they saw my post and it gave them the motivation they needed to move forward. All of this in turn inspired me to work harder, to push myself more and I started to use the hashtag #civilizedsavages on every post. That's when I decided that if my posts could inspire people then maybe shirts could do the same.
